A Soulcat is a once-in-a-lifetime (or, if you are extremely lucky, maybe you will have more than one in your life) relationship, an experience unlike any other.  If you have ever had a Soulcat, maybe you share your life with one now? - You will understand.  

Not every cat will be your Soulcat.  But we love them all, and every cat deserves a loving, peaceful transition when they have to leave their failing body.  Soulcat Feline Farewells was created to honor and recognize the profound bond between people and their cats. That bond has importance.  The love you feel for your cat is very real, and it deserves respect and understanding.

You can get something from your bond with a cat that you cannot get anywhere else. They bring such gifts into our lives, and we as people who are grateful to them, want to give them everything, including a beautiful and respectful passing. That’s where Soulcat Feline Farewells comes in.

Every family we visit reminds us why we do this work. Your kitty deserves a peaceful passing. Your family deserves to be cared for at that painful time. We will hold the space for that incredible bond to be honored.

Feline Exclusive

We are Portland's only feline-exclusive end-of-life practice — every process, every protocol, every gentle touch is designed for cats alone. Over many years, we have developed special expertise in handling and treating cats. Our sister practice, At Home Veterinary Services, has been serving cats and the people who love them in their Portland homes since 2010. And, Soulcat Feline Farewells is one of the very few independent (ie, not a large corporation) mobile veterinary euthanasia services in the metro area. That matters too. We have the freedom to be flexible, to customize, to listen, and to take our time. Our processes are not dictated by headquarters….they are dictated by you and your cat.

At Home Sanctuary

Your kitty's favorite blanket, their sunny window, the people they love — we come to the place where your cat feels safest. No carriers, no car rides, no cold examination tables. Just home. If your cat has a favorite sunbeam or a favorite spot by the fireplace, it can be a relief for caregivers to see their special companion peacefully resting in the place that brings them such comfort. You know what your cat likes best. We can be flexible and will strive to help you create the most peaceful transition possible, in the place your cat loves to be.

Respectful care for you and your feline friend- before and after

From the first contact with us to the follow-up aftercare, we believe it is vitally important to care for you and your cat with sensitivity and compassion. We want to listen to your concerns and help with any fears you may have. We understand how hard the decision is for you, how painful it can be. We can talk through the timing - is it the right time? We will answer all your questions in an unhurried manner as you begin planning. You will also have choices to make for aftercare of your cat’s remains - we can help make those decisions easier. If you choose to have us take your beloved kitty for cremation, we will wrap them gently in a beautiful wrap, designed to swaddle them in softness. If you choose, we can make complimentary ink pawprints and/or take fur clippings –every remembrance is created with reverence. We can also arrange for lovely clay paw impressions to be made. We honor the bond you shared with the same care we brought to the farewell itself.

Is Soulcat a cats-only practice?
Yes, we are Portland's only feline-exclusive end-of-life practice. We are a small, boutique practice, and we pride ourselves on being independent and unlike the larger corporate end-of-life practices in the area. We are flexible, down-to-earth, and deeply committed to providing thoughtful, gentle care for your special kitty and for you.
